The Lost Child Blog Tour!
Mandy Miller disappeared from Hallowâs End when she was just 3 years old. She was never found.
Thirty years on, Elaine Ellis is carrying her motherâs ashes back to Hallowâs End to scatter them in the place that she once called home. Elaine has never been there, but itâs the only place Jean talked about while she was growing up â so it seems as good a place as any.
As Elaine settles into her holiday cottage in the peaceful Devonshire village, she gets to know the locals; family she never knew she had, eccentric and old-fashioned gentry, and new friends where she would least expect them. But she is intrigued by the tale of the missing girl that the village still carries at its heart, and which somehow continues to overshadow them all. Little does she know how much more involved in the mystery she will becomeâŠ

And the Bride Wore Prada by Katie Oliver publication day!
Please welcome the lovely Katie Oliver to the blog today with a guest post about her latest fabulous book And the Bride wore Prada!
ALL I WANT IS EVERYTHING
Blimey – people in love get married in all sorts of odd places, donât they?
Some tie the knot on the beach, or in an airplane; one couple I know got hitched while parachuting out of an airplane. Some marry in an amusement park, or in the middle of a field. But thatâs not what I want when I marry Dominic.
My name is Gemma Astley, and I want a traditional church wedding, with all of the trimmings. Every. Sodding. One.
I had it all planned: weâd share our special day with 500 of our closest friends, and twelve bridesmaids, six ushers in kilts, a shedload of white roses, and a ginormous wedding cake; then Iâd take my vows wearing my Prada wedding gown, with a horse-drawn sleigh and six matched white horses to carry us away afterwards on our honeymoonâŠand all of it to take place at Domâs lavish Scottish estate in Northton Grange.
But nothingâs gone according to bloody plan.
First off, we were stranded at the Inverness airport with no hire car. Thankfully, Natalie and Rhys Gordon offered to take us along to Loch Draemar, where they were headed for the holidays.
We agreed. We could spend the night at Tarquin Campbellâs castle in Draemar, then Dom and I would get a hire car in the village in the morning, and be on our way to Northton Grange. Easy peasy, right?
Wrong. There wasnât a single hire car to be had, or a hotel room. And then it snowed. And snowed. And bloody snowed, leaving us stuck at the castle for days on end.
Of course, getting married in a castle instead isnât so bad. The Campbell familyâs castle is gorgeous, all massive fireplaces and flagstones and minstrelâs galleries and what have you. But it isnât the same as getting married at Domâs place, is it? And with all this snow, Iâm worried mum and dad wonât be able to make it to our wedding.
The thought of it makes me want to cry. Sorry. *sniffles and grabs a tissue* I donât mean to whinge, really; butâŠ
âŠSHOULDNâT A BRIDE GET WHAT SHE BLOODY WELL WANTS?
Gemma Astley and Dominic Heath are about to tie the marital knot at Draemar Castle in the tiny Highland village of Loch Draemar. But in the wake of snow and more snow, a missing Prada wedding gown, and a bride who’s morphed into an Essex Brideasaurus, Dominic is having some serious doubts.
It’s beginning to feel a lot like…confinement. Especially when someone locks Dom away in the castle dungeon mere hours before the wedding.
Who locked him in? Who would do such a thing? And where is the missing key? Will Gemma and her reluctant bridegroom ever find their way to happiness?
Read And the Bride Wore Prada to find out.
What could be more romantic than Christmas in the Scottish highlands?
The first book in the Marrying Mr Darcy series, âAnd the Bride Wore Prada,â finds Natalie and Rhys Gordon headed to Scotland to spend the holidays with Tarquin Campell and his wife Wren. A mix-up at the Inverness airport leads Natalie to offer a ride to stranded rock star Dominic Heath and his fiancĂ©, Gemma. A blizzard soon makes the roads impassable, and the foursome barely make it to Draemar Castle.
When tabloid reporter Helen Thomasâs car slides off the road, she seeks shelter at the castle as well. Sheâs after an exclusive story on Dominic and Gemmaâs not-so-secret upcoming wedding. But Helen finds a bigger story when she discovers Tarquinâs brother, Andrew, drowned years before. His body was never found. Is it possible heâs still alive? Her investigation yields more questions than answers.
Could Colm MacKenzie, the gruff groundskeeper with more than a passing resemblance to the Campbell family, be the missing piece to the puzzle?
Natalie and Rhys are recently married and blissfully happy…until Nat receives unexpected news that changes everything. Hurt by Rhysâs less-than-enthusiastic reaction, she wonders if their sparkling new marriage is over before itâs even begunâŠ

BIO:
Katie Oliver loves romantic comedies, characters who “meet cute,” Richard Curtis films, and Prosecco (not necessarily in that order). She currently resides in northern Virginia with her husband and three parakeets, in a rambling old house with uneven floors and a dining room that leaks when it rains.
Katie has been writing since she was eight, and has a box crammed with (mostly unfinished) novels to prove it. With her sons grown and gone, she decided to get serious and write more (and hopefully, better) stories. She even finishes most of them.
So if you like a bit of comedy with your romance, please visit Katieâs website, www.katieoliver.com, and have a look.
Here’s to love and all its complications…

Release Week Blitz: Tracie Banister’s TWIN PIQUES
Congrats to Tracie Banister who released her third Chick Lit novel this week! Take a look at the blurb and gorgeous cover below!
Forensic accountant Sloane Tobin and kooky pet psychic Willa may have the same face, but thatâs the only thing these identical twins have in common.
How she can read the hearts and minds of animals has always been a mystery to Willa, and her rotten luck with men is equally baffling. Although sheâs been looking for âThe Oneâ for what feels like forever (A teenage marriage to a French mime and dating a guy named Spider seemed like good ideas at the time!), optimistic Willa refuses to give up on love. When she meets Brody, the handsome rose expert hired to save her grandmotherâs garden, sheâs instantly smitten, but why does he keep sending her mixed signals? Does he return her feelings, or is their attraction all in her fanciful head?
Unlike her twin, Sloane has zero interest in romance. Her passion is her job, where she uses her gift for numbers to take down slimy embezzlers and asset-hiding spouses. When sheâs assigned two high profile cases, Sloane feels confident the promotion sheâs been angling for is within her grasp. But will her plan to climb the corporate ladder be thwarted by difficult clients, her co-worker-with-benefits, or â most surprisingly of all â her own sister? And howâs she supposed to stay focused on the drama at work when her childhood friend, Gav, moves in next door and the spark between them becomes impossible to ignore?
To get what they both want, can Willa and Sloane band together and rely on each otherâs strengths? Or will their differences drive them apart once and for all?

About Tracie:
An avid reader and writer, Tracie Banister has been scribbling stories since she was a child, most of them featuring feisty heroines with complicated love lives like her favorite fictional protagonist Scarlett OâHara. Her work was first seen on the stage of her elementary school, where her 4th grade class performed an original holiday play that she penned. (Like all good divas-in-the-making, she also starred in and tried to direct the production.)
Tracieâs dreams of authorial success were put on the backburner when she reached adulthood and discovered that she needed a ârealâ job in order to pay her bills. Her career as personal assistant to a local entrepreneur lasted for 12 years. When it ended, she decided to follow her bliss and dedicate herself to writing full-time. Twin Piques is her third Chick Lit release. The pet psychic character in this novel was inspired by Tracieâs rascally rescue dogs. Sheâd love to know what goes on in their heads!

News about Sarah from The Bookshop on the Corner
Out of all the characters I’ve written I get the most messages about Sarah from The Bookshop on the Corner. She’s a favourite of mine, and I think a lot of people relate to her bookworm-ish nature! As you may know I find secrets almost impossible to keep – so when someone emails me and asks what’s next for Sarah I have a really hard time keeping my mouth shut!
My editor and I have planned the forthcoming books, so I knew a long time ago exactly what was in store for our resident book lover!
So without any more fanfare…Next for Sarah is a little adventure! She’s headed out of Ashford, and away from her friends for a holiday she’ll never forget. This is huge for Sarah, as she’s an introvert, and loves her bookshop as if it’s a living, breathing, thing. But never fear, it’s in good hands!
I wanted to share with you today, the holding cover for the next instalment for Sarah! What do you think?

Follow along for the Christmas Wedding Twitter Countdown!
As you may know I’ve just finished the third and final Gingerbread CafĂ© series book, Christmas Wedding at the Gingerbread CafĂ©. I’ve had lots of messages from people asking me if it really is the last book in the series because they’re not ready to say goodbye to the girls, and the residents of Ashford. I admit I blubbered like a baby myself when it was all finished. My friends, fictional or not, were hard to say goodbye to.
In case you don’t know, the next book Secrets at the Maple Syrup Farm (coming March 2015)Â is also set in Ashford. So while the story will have different main characters you’ll still see glimpses of the ones you know. After all, it’s a small town, they’re bound to bump into one another!
My friend and promo assistant extraordinaire , Karan, suggested an idea that I thought was super sweet, and a great way for people to get to know the characters from the Gingerbread Café series a little better, or if you already know them, a little more!
So from December 15th we’ll be doing ten days of character tweets! This is also the ten day countdown for the wedding, which is in the book too!  You’ll hear from Lil, and CeeCee, Damon, Missy, and Sarah and of course, cute-as-a-button Charlie!

Driving Home for Christmas by A.L. Michael
Megan McAllister is home for ChristmasâŠwhether she likes it or not!
Christmas is about familyâŠand for Megan family means two people: herself, and her daughter Skye. It doesnât mean her parents who, ten years ago, saw her pregnancy as anything but a miracle. And it definitely doesnât include her irresistible ex-boyfriend Lucas Bright.
So âDriving Home for Christmasâ has never been top of Meganâs festive playlist. But for Skye, she knows she needs to spend the holiday season with the people sheâs left behind. She can do this. Even if the thought of meeting Lucas under the mistletoe still has her feeling like sheâs drunk one-too-many Snowballs!
But somewhere between the hanging of stockings and the crackle of wrapping paper, Christmas starts to sparkle. And Megan begins to wonder if family could be bigger than her and Skye after allâŠPop the buckâs fizz, stoke the fire and prepare to giggle the festive season away with AL Michael!
EXCERPT
Last week in the Villageâs Number One Newspaper, our little gossip column was full of Christmas Cheer, with the flurry of ex-villagers rushing back to spend the holidays with their families.
Most of these returns arenât surprising, and thereâs something comforting about welcoming back Nell from her home in Devon, or Tony back to the butchers, where his son Nigel is, Iâm sure we can all agree, doing an excellent job of keeping the family business going!
But this week, someone has returned that we never thought to see again! Megan McAllister has returned to her parental home, and with a daughter in tow! Our sources tell us her daughterâs name is Skye, sheâs ten years old, and is quite the child prodigy. We are also working under the assumption that the unknown father or Meganâs child is, or was, a member of our own community!Â
You all remember when Megan McAllister left, under the dark of night on Christmas eve all those years ago? Now sheâs back, proving she has nothing to be ashamed of, and we say, well done to you, young lady! Welcome back to the village, Megan, (and Skye) and Merry Christmas!
Megan McAllister threw the paper down onto the table in disgust.
âReally? They think thatâs appropriate?â she snorted.
Lucas looked up at her, eyebrows raised, âyou do remember who runs that paper?â
âIt canât still be Douglas, how is that man still alive?â
âHeâs fortified by rumours and other peopleâs misery,â Lucas laughed, âplus you know who the source is, donât you?â
âLet me guess. Belinda,â Megan growled, grasping her wine glass too tightly.
âThe people of the village were overjoyed when she opened up the beauty salon- now people have a place to gossip away the whole day. The place is like a waspsâ nest.â
âI think wasp is too nice a comparison for that woman.â
âAnd I think, however misjudged and inappropriate, you have to admit that Iâm not the only person here whoâs happy youâre back.â

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

An Emerald Interview with Kathleen McGurl
Can you share the blurb of your book with us?
Certainly! The title is The Emerald Comb, and itâs a timeslip (dual time line) novel.
One afternoon, Katie takes a drive to visit Kingsley House, the family home of her ancestors, the St Clairs. She falls in love the minute she sees it. It may be old and in desperate need of modernisation, but it is her link to the past and, having researched her family tree extensively, she feels a sense of belonging to the crumbling old estate.
When it suddenly comes up for sale, she cannot resist persuading her family to sell up and buy it, never telling them the truth of their connection with it. But soon the past collides with the present, as the house begins to reveal the secrets it has hidden for generations. Does Katie really want to discover what she has come from?
Who is your favourite character and why?
I think I identify most with Katie, and certainly like her the best. But Georgia is sweet and innocent, and I felt most sorry for her as I wrote her part. The most fun to write was Agnes without a doubt. Sheâs not particularly likeable but from a writersâ point of view, sheâs my favourite.
Do you have a particular time you like to write?
Itâs more a case of when I can find the time! I have a full time job and lots of other time-commitments so I have to fit writing around everything else. Early evening is good, say from 7pm â 9pm, preferably with a glass of wine to hand. Or mid-afternoon on a rainy weekend.
What are you reading?
At the moment I am reading Summit 8000 by Andrew Lock. Heâs Australiaâs top mountaineer, and the only Australian to have climbed all the 8000m mountains in the world. I love mountains, and love mountain adventure books, so when my friend (who happens to be an ex-girlfriend of his!) sent me this for my birthday I couldnât wait to get straight on to reading it.
Who is your favourite author?
I adore books written in dual time periods (and thatâs what The Emerald Comb is as well!) so my favourite authors are those who write this kind of book. Kate Morton and Katherine Webb are the best, in my opinion!
If your book was made into a movie whoâd play the main characters?
This is hard! I watch so few films and TV Iâd have to research actors before I can name any! Except for Colin Firth. Heâd have to play Bartholomew, obviously, goes without saying. Perhaps Kate Winslet can play Katie, and Keira Knightley could play Agnes. Georgia should be played by a young, sweet-faced unknown actress I think.
Whatâs next for you writing wise?
Iâm in the final stages of editing my next Carina book â itâs another timeslip, this time alternating between 1944 and the present day. Itâs due to be published early 2015. Iâm also writing a short non-fiction book, and playing around with several ideas for the next novel. Itâs all go!
Describe a typical writing day, do you have any rituals you use before starting?
Thereâs no such thing as a typical writing day for me â I have to grab writing time where I can. I do have a terrible habit of needing to check email, Twitter, Facebook, a private writersâ forum, Amazon rankings, Novelrank and KDP sales figures before I can actually get going. Iâm really trying to stop myself doing all this but itâs hard!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Kathleen McGurl is a writer of short stories, novels and how-to-write books. She lives by the sea in Bournemouth with her husband and teen son 2. Teen son 1 is away at university. When not writing she is either working at the day-job (IT for a large retail organisation) or running along the Bournemouth prom, slowly.
She has sold dozens of stories to womenâs magazines in the UK and Australia. Her how-to-write books and a romantic novella are available as ebooks from Amazon and her first full-length novel The Emerald Comb was published by Carina UK on 22nd September 2014.

Bonjour, Jennie Bohnet!
Can you share the blurb of your book with us?
YOU HAD ME AT BONJOUR is about Jessicaâs Shirley Valentine year.
If youâd asked Jessica a year ago, she would have told you that her life was pretty near perfect. But one year â and one very messy divorce â later, sheâs not so sure. Which is how she found herself boarding a plane to the south of France, determined to put her past behind her⊠preferably via some deliciously chilled rosĂ©.
Meeting a new man was never part of the plan. Yet when she meets Nico, her new neighbourâs impossibly sexy nephew, steering clear of romance seems easier said than done. Suddenly, Jessica finds herself right back where she started: with her heart on the line. But now sheâs made a new start, perhaps itâs time for Jessica to throw caution to the wind, take a few risks⊠and learn to regrette rien!
Who is your favourite character and why?
I think Eliosa my older female heroine is my favourite. Sheâs half French / Italian, slim and elegant and full of that continental âje nâsais quoisâ. I just want to be her in another life!
Do you have a particular time you like to write?
Not really. Iâm lucky enough to be a fulltime writer and I do try to keep to office hours but Iâm the worldâs champion procrastinator.
What are you reading?
Iâve just finished reading The Hidden Cottage by Erica James and I have a huge TBR list on my tablet waiting to be read.
Who is your favourite author?
Oh thatâs a difficult one. I donât really have a favourite but Iâll always buy the latest from Erica James, Jill Mansell, Veronica Henry, Judy Astley, JoJo Moyes.
If your book was made into a movie whoâd play the main characters?
My dream cast would be: Raoul Bove the Italian actor who was my inspiration for my hero Nino would play the part to perfection. Jessica my heroine would be a part that Maggie Gyllenhaal would be brilliant in I think. Juliette Binoche would be a sexy Eliosa and Simon Baker as Jessicaâs ex husband Ben.
Whatâs next for you writing wise?
At the moment Iâm doing the revisions for my next Carina book due out early next year and I have a new one to write by the end of January.
Describe a typical writing day, do you have any rituals you use before starting?
Breakfast with my husband, a few household chores before dealing with e-mails and forcing myself to do some social media stuff – being an introvert I find that side of things very difficult. The only ritual is a large mug of proper coffee after this and then work. Well thatâs the theory anyway!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I live in France with my husband Richard, one large dog called Philly who we rescued from the Antibes dog shelter and one fat cat known as Little ‘un who simply turned up one day.
In 1999 Richard and I, with our then dog 14 year old Holly in a trailer attached to Richard’s bike, cycled down through western France via the canal paths, arriving in Antibes in July. With the exception of one fleeting visit back to the UK we have lived in France ever since, and recently moved into a small cottage in central Brittany.
I have two grownup children, Emily, a Montessori trained education specialist and Nick, a yacht captain. I still can’t quite believe that between them they have five children making me a grandmother – how selfish is that when I’m simply not old enough for the title. It goes without saying of course that I adore each and everyone of them and wish I saw more of them.
I am currently working on my fifth novel ‘Life’s a Beach’ once again set in the South of France.
‘Millie, opening and running her own beach restaurant in the South of France, is determined to prove her critics – and Seb Groc master-chef extraordinaire – wrong. Of course an English woman can succeed in the highly competitive world of French cuisine – can’t she?’
I am a member of the Romantic Novelists’ Association and the Society of Authors.
